351w swap with a 50oz flywheel help????
hi guys,
Well i just got most of my project done. A 381w stroked 351w in my 95 mustang. I had one question. I swaped everything over from my 302 engine, all of the front accessories, and everything looks fine and lines up. I used my manual flywheel that i had resurfaced onto the 351w. it bolted right up. the 351w block is from 1968-1974 so i think it's a 28oz whille my 95 302 is a 50oz.... Will everything work out correctly, or will i cause some damage from not having the proper flywheel/dampner???? Can i get a fuild dampener to slove this problem???? Well thanks guys,
Jonathan

RE: 351w swap with a 50oz flywheel help????
Your engine builder balanced the rotating assembly to what? 28oz? This is most common and if so you will need a 28oz flywheel and harmonic balancer, should you use the 50oz stuff it will shake violently and knock out a main bearing in rapid fashion

RE: 351w swap with a 50oz flywheel help????
the engine is balanced to 28oz ithink from stock form. what happened is that it had a flywheel for an automatic, when i have a t-3550 manual trans, i then pulled off my flywheel off the 302 and snaped a blot. I then went and got it resurfaced and got the bolt taken out.i returned and installed the flywheel, clutch, and everything else. So now the engine, clutch/trans is all in the car. So i was wondering if i could just use a 50oz dampner to match the 50oz flywheel that i put in.Can i use a fluid dampner to conteract???? I would just not wantto take it all out agian and have to buy another flywheel. thanks though for all the help.
