Default 351w swap into a 1995 GT

I recently cracked the block on my 302. So now its time to upgrade. I need to know what all is needed for a swap into my 1995 GT w/ manual trans.. Where can I get these swap parts that are needed? Does anything need to be special fabbed? Is there anywhere that sells a swap kit? I need any and all info I can get about the swap into a SN95.

whats up dude? you and i seem to be in the same position, as i too am swapping a 351W into my 95. ill try to outline everything as well as i can for you.
-first of all, you need to find a suitable block. in the case of 351's, the older the better (try to find a mexican block if possible, 4 bolt mains stock)
-get a good rotating assembly, something that is all forged and neutrally balanced. Eagle sells a good one on Summit. stock will explode at 4500rpm.
-good heads are a must on motor like this. take your pick depending on you application.
-new distributor. MSD drop-in 5.8
-headers. 50resto.com sells Bassani longtubes. match it with a full exhaust and a X pipe. whatever sound you like.
-for the love of god upgrade the tranny. the T5 will break faster than you can imagine. get a tremec 3550, TKO, or T56. they all bolt up the same.
-clutch and flywheel. get a SPEC 2+ clutch and SPEC aluminum flywheel, dont let ANYONE tell you different. Centerforce or anything else is garbage.
-fuel system (255lph in tank and appropriate injectors) stock rails are fine. adjustable FPR.
-uprage the 8.8 with a 31 spline Auburn Pro and Moser axles
-tune it using SCT software.
-the front accesories will change over.
-since you're in there, do a tubular K member and A arms.
-3" cowl hood. Cervinis makes nice ones.
-upgraded radiator.

hope this helps. feel free to pm me or call if you have any questions. 860.305.4240
heres my list for what i have for mine. feel free to copy if you like, lol.
-'72 351W .030" over
-Eagle forged neutral balance rotating assembly, H-beams, 10.6:1 pistons. 3.50" stroke.
-Edelbrock Victor Jr heads
-Edelbrock Victor 5.8 manifold
-75mm TB
-75mm MAF
-42# injectors
-COMP solid roller cam .614/.621 lift, 110*LSA
-COMP solid roller lifters
-Harland Sharp 1.6 rockers
-Harland Sharp tie bars
-Canton oil pan
-HV oil pump
-Fluidyne 3 core radiator
-Bassani long tubes
-OR X pipe
-Spintech Pro Street mufflers
-Tremec T56
-3.73 31 spline 8.8 w/ Moser axles
-BBK 255lph in tank
-Fuel Safe 22 gallon cell
-Aeromotive FPR
-Cervinis 3.5" cowl hood
-tubular K memeber and A arms with spring perches

and lastly, a HUGE grin when you smoke an LS powered GM...

dont even ask how much all this cost.

Mexican blocks are not 4 bolt main. They never made a factory production block that was 4 bolt main. Mexican blocks were made mostly for marine applications. They are the same strength as a 71-74 block. As for stock internals they will last well past 4500 rpm's. The tune is everything when you start playing with the motor. You have the specs for a pretty healthy motor.

my bad with the Mexican block. i think i had them and the DARTs confused (dumb right?). as for the rotating assembly, my motor cam from a truck, and i was told that 4500 was pushing it. i dont know if thats true, but it was enough to convince me to upgrade. well, that and the fact that i got a SWEET deal on my Eagle assembly (guy ended up getting a 408 kit, and gave it to me CHEAP). i hope it ends up being a strong motor. im sick of looking at LS1 tailights. how did you like your S351? id kill to own one of those.

I enjoy them most of the time. They have good points and bad points. I workef out most of the bad ones over the years. The 99's are great! The 96 had issues with the tune Saleen used. The only real problems I can say were fuel related. Pumps going bad or gauges going bad....

On the hood clearance with the 351, what is the least I could get away with on a Sn95? 3" is alot to look over! I am still debating on what I want to run, 347 or 418 N/A FI and keep it a daily driver. I see that you used a 3" hood. Thanks MAC

ive heard of people using fox convertible mounts and being able to use the stock hood. actually, a 3' isnt that bad to look over, its pretty much even with where your eyes look down and is no more difficult to park or anything. plus you can put gauges in the back like i just did.

I knew that I would have to change out the hood, but did not know how much clearance that there would be needed between engine and hood. The gauges behind the cowl sounds like a pretty good idea. Keeps the clutter out of the cockpit. Thanks for the input. MAC
