Talking head q, for 351w

i am starting to build a 351w was thinking of a 408 stroker but not sure as of yet might go bigger .
myquestion is what stock head can be worked over to male good power for this engine? i have heard that the older heads(69-? ones designedfor leadedgas) were really good but are there any others out there?
if anyonehas anyinfo please let me know .
thanks guys.

No stock head will work on a 400+ inch motor, unless you like shifting at 4500-5000 rpm. ALL stock iron ford heads are useless on a motor of that size

you wanna run aftermarket heads, you COULD get those heads worked over, but by the time they are, for like 500 more you could have heads that are 100x better out of the box

If you out of cash, just do a HCI on the 351 w, that should get you about 350hp.

Stock Heads will net about -100 HP, which sucks

No matter which stock head you pick, there's no way to re-work it enough to feed a 408. The heads will end up being your choke point.

There's also no need to spend big bux on fancy CNC heads, either.

Take a look at Dart 195 heads. Very high quality parts, reasonably price. My engine makes over 500hp with them straight out of the box, no mods other than a simple port match.

from what i have heard (doing research myself)
tfs twisted wedges would be nice, and you could run up to .540 without notching the pistons.

170cc twisted wedges are a little too small for a 408 but would work decently on a 351windsor which is what i plan on doing..

If you want to do it with Ford production head you are looking at a Clevor.
