Default Rebuilt t5 behind a semi built 351.. Opinions?

I do not want to go with an Auto as I already have an Auto 351 in a Ranger and it's run and fast but there's nothing like bangin gears.

Would I be pissin money away spending any money on havin a T5 reworked or with some mods are they a decent trans?

Whats the experience on here?

Thanks!
Terrance

If you use an Astro or G-force kit to build it it will hold up very well.

if your going to spend the money to redo a t5 your going to be better off going to MMR and getting a TKO 900 that will handle anything you can think of throwing at it. I have a built to the gills astro t-5 with the G force 5th gear and it cost me almost as much in parts to build it myself as it would have to buy the entire MMR TKO 900 that would have been much stronger than any T5

I guess if you went with an Astro Performance Setup, or perhaps the G Force Kit it might handle the power for a while. I dont speak from any experience with the kits mentioned above. BUT, I did have my T5 Rebuilt with a regular kit and it lasted a whole month. Granted, I was not being very nice to it

Then I installed another, and guess what, I broke that one in less than a month!
I finally got sick of replacing t5's, so I picked up a TKO.

I have had the misfortune of breaking a couple of World Class T-5 trannies in my old red car. Of course, like others on here, I was not very nice to them. Power shifting is about the T-5's worst enemy. An Astro or G-Force T-5 should do you plenty good. Just try to keep from ripping the stick back and fourth and it will live a long time.

I drove a Turbo'd Fox body the other day with a Viper Spec T-56. Way to much shifting for me, he is running a 4.10 gear in the car. His goals are to run around a 10.50 E.T. and maintain 20+ mpg.

I put a T-56 in my 02 Kenne Bell boosted GT to replace the 3650. It gave me the gear it seemed to be missing between 4th and 5th. I loved it. If you like to shift the more gears the better, lol I almost put a T-56 in my current build but I was looking for better ET's and the T-56 can be a slow shifter under power and my wife wanted to drive this one so I went auto
