Motor build question.
I recently got a 94 351w out of an F series truck. I've been trying to pick up as much as I can by reading old threads and articles on H/C/I combinations but I need some help.
I don't want to spend more than a grand but I still want a decent set of heads and a good lopey cam. I'm not building a drag car or anything else, I just want a good car to take out on a sunny day and go fast when I want to but also turns heads because of sounding like a badass old muscle car.
I don't want the compression so high that I can't run pump gas either. I've been looking at edlebrock heads and a victor jr. intake but I really have no idea what I need to buy to achieve my goal.
Can you guys give me some suggestions that aren't out of my price range and what would compliment what? I forgot to mention that I'm going carb and junking all the EFI crap.

just the heads are going to put you over 1000 if you go with edelbrock id say go with patriots if your not looking for max performance but a 351 with patriot heads and decent cam will run really well for a sunny day car

I like the heads. but I will never order anything from Barnett High Performance again.
Once I had the heads they stopped all communication with me, I had to take the heads to my local machine shop to get the stud mounts machined down because they were originally a pedestal mount head and Barnett sent me al the hardware for stud mount, and the studs sat too high. cause all kinds of issues.
Other than that.. im happy with them. Only reason im getting rid of them is to get something bigger.... my 347 wants to breathe
