Default What's your favorite 351 long tube

What long tubes do you think are the best?

Have shorties on my '95 with a 351 and need to let it breathe better.

I've seen MAC, Accufab, Bassani, Hooker, Kooks...but haven't heard anything about them except a lot of people don't like the Kooks

Bassani makes a longtube specifically for 94/95 mustangs with a 351W swap. pricey but worth it. any X pipe made for longtubes will bolt up the the headers. Kooks might be able to make you a set, give them a call and see.

If I were to say what I thought to be the BEST header for power I'd pobably be looking at Kooks Headers. As far as your X pipes go I doubt it. Too many vaiations between differant brands of headers for even a set of long tubes of two differnt brands to line up much less and engine swap.

I've used aftermarket headers on the stock h-pipe, and used mixed brand header/h-pipe.... No issues.

The exhaust manufacturers are fairly good with interchangeability, and I've never heard of mismatch issues...

The 351w headers are designed to meet up with the midpipe in the same location as the 302 headers.
You should be just fine interchanging, but keep in mind that every build is a little different...

**Cough** Not many header swap huh Jason? Stock H pipe on longtubes?

alecracing... Not many header and X pipes can interchange without some exhaust work. Right down to the location of you exhaust ports can throw off how wide and what angle the headers exit under the car. If you buy a set of headers spend 85 dollars on an X pipe kit and you'll be in there with no worries. As far as using the 302 X pipe on the 351 it ain't happening on an 95 with any kind of longtubes unless you have a welder and pipe bender.

As far as Kooks headers go the reason people say bad stuff about them is that they are very very expensive. The price for a set of headers for my 85 with raised port heads and C6 transmission was going to be over 1200 dollars. I bought a set of Hooker Super Comp long t ubes for mine and the rasied pot heads have caused me greif. If Hooker made and X pipe for my headers and for my car it wouldn't fit because the ports are placed in a differant spot than where they were designed to be and an X pipe would be off by 1/2 inch over stock port location heads. I bought a Summit 3 inch X pipe Kit and I can place it just about in any spot I want.

All hail the great portmaster... You're right... I have never done anything...

Get off your high horse, cuz I'm not taking your trash.

Long tube header on a long tube midpipe will fit, regardless of brand.
aftermarket shorties on a stock midpipe will fit.
aftermarket shorties on a aftermarket midpipe will fit.
