Default Street Stall Converter

Hello everyone,

I am looking at a 89 notch that has a roller 358W in it that was machined and built by a pretty well known builder and I and have a question about the stall converter that is in car. I want to use the car as a daily driver (I live 2 miles from work and would drive it 20 miles at the most) and a weekend play toy from time to time. The car now has a 3500 stall converter in it, 10.8-1 compression, 600 lift cam and 4.10 gears.

Is this to much stall for a street car and if it is what would you recommend as a good size. I know people may want more info and since I don't know what, I have kinda left the details of the motor out.

Thanks

Uedlose, he told me what brand but I cant rememberr what he said. All I do remember is that he said it was a tight converter.

It is a 3 speed C4 Tranny.

I was wondering if it would be better to remove that and add a 5 speed. I was going to put in some 3.73 gears to give the car a little more pop at take off....it has the stock gears in it now.

For the Strip, around town, and short highway runs, I think you are in great shape. The C4 is a great trans if built properly, and with that stall will be quicker, and more consistent than a 5 speed.

Awesome, thanks alot for the replies and info. I am not mechanically inclined and have been looking for a coupe with a decent motor that needed body/interior work. I think/hope this car is going to be it. My 13 and 9 year old are excited about working on the car with me.
