why do you want to use a GT40?

there's a reason people suggest the TF intakes or going carb...

also reason being is im not looking for a 700hp 9sec drag car. this will be more of a street car with cornering in mind more like 450-500rwhp with the use of ported 185afr, 408 stroker. though i will rarely see 5k rpm its nice knowing ive got it when needed

Those AFR 185s are not going to get you there. Build a 347.

or just put them on a stock 351W shortblock...

BTW, the GT40 lower in discontinued from Ford and all the lightning/present owners know this. the lowers go for about as much as you can get a COMPLETE TFS R series for a 351W.

anyways, stock 351W (get a F4TE block so itll take a hyd roller) a mild cam, AFR 185's, and the R series should be a fun little ride and pull until 6000rpm. extra weight might nullify the power advantage, but at least itll last forever and a week...

youre gonna want to go past 5000rpm trust me. the truck engines go until 5500rpm anyways...

I like the TF R series on my motor. 302 lower intake will not fit the 351 block.

so in other words no one knows if the gt40 lower would fit the 351w or a lower that would fit the block and gt40 upper? i've been eyeing craigs list in the sections of PA lancaster, york harrisburg and MD baltimore i have seen them come and go counless times in the range of 300-450. all i was simply asking is if it would fit. not trying to be rude but my build would include enough to get my hp goal i wasnt asking for a build simply if a specific intake would mate to my block

There are 2 versions of the GT40 lower intake.
302
351w

The 351w is a taller deck height, thus has a wider lifter valley.
The 302 intake will NOT fit the 351w.

The 351w sized GT40 intake is often called a "Lightning" intake.

Keep in mind...
The GT40 style intakes will kill the increased displacement of a 351w.
Not the best intake you could use for a larger engine.

the gt 40 lower is nothing more then a Cobra lower a Explorer lower.. But No the GT40 will not fit the 351W BUT yes there is a intake that will accept a GT40 upper that fits a 351W like said they came on lighting trucks so all you got to do is find one and then you will be set..
