Default Factory crank strength

Does anyone know what a "safe" point is for an early 351 crank?

I have a 70's 351 (d2 casting) that I'm in the process of rebuilding, I'm expecting a little over 500hp.

The combination will be 351 ci, undecided aftermarket topend, v1 strim (2.95/6.87 pulley combination), mild rpm's around say 6-6.5k tops

If you are planning to make that much power I wouldnt skimp on the bottom end.

Good cranks aren't that pricey.

I didn't have any intentions on using the factory crank. I just figured I might as well ask and make sure I don't "waste" money.

I'm really just trying to keep my self talked out of a stroker build, these things have a tendency to go bigger then planned and over budget lol

talking yourself out of a stroker WTF lmao! you can get a good stroker kit for way less than a blower!
If you arent going to use the stock crank then this thread is pointless right? on the other hand a stock 351 can handle that blower with a 10 lb pulley!

I already have the blower, its on the car now. I'm rebuilding a spare 351 I have and when its ready I will yank the stock motor and put the blower on the new engine.

Basically I wasn't planning on using the stock crank but figured I might as well ask and see if its strong enough. If I could save a bit of $$$ on a crank I would but don't want to build a ticking time bomb.

Seen guys run well into the 9s with a stock prepped crankshaft. the stock crank will laugh at 500 HP. I have seen lots of turbo guys way over 500 hp with the stock crank with a good balance job. keep the rpms in check and the tune on like said you will have no problems.
