Default 351 or 408 stroker

me and my friend are about to go buy a foxbody mustang rolling chassis.

we want to build this as a drag car.
we were thinking of putting a 351 or 408 stroker motor in it. cant decide.

we are both 17 years old but his dad is planning on helping us. we want to turbo it and make about 700-1000hp. what motor should we go with.

1000 hp and 17 isn't a smart mix. Just sayin'.
That being said, more is more in this case and I vote 408. I've got a stout 351 in one of my cars right now that I'm happy with, but if you are shooting that high - just go all out.

Well I can see what you are saying but by the time we are done and dragging it we will be about 20 haha. This stuff isn't cheap.

Rolling chassis foxbody $1000
408 stroker motor $4699
80mm hellion turbo with supporting mods around $5000
Trickflow aluminum ported and polished heads $1300
Suspension mods $1500
Exhaust $1500
Tires and wheels $1500-2000

That's just some of the things off the top of my head obviously a lot more will go in it. Being said wit about 1000-1200 hp should we do a built auto trans or built manual.

I say wait till your more mature to plan a build like this, you dont have the driving skills for a 1000hp car and considering the amount of money it cost to build a car capable of that you wont have enough appreciation for it considering you didnt earn the money to build it.

Just throwing this out here, you'll need more suspension than a $1500 set up to hook 1000 hp. I'd start with a 400 hp drag car, then go from there.
As for trans... auto will be a much more common path to follow when looking for consistant drag times.
