Default 351 in a '94 GT

OK people. I have just finished installing a 351 into a '94 GT. Here are the particulars.

Ford Motorsport Crate Motor (M-6007-A351)
New stock Distributor from a 1991 F150, 5.8 liter with remote TFI with steel gear installed
190 liter Ford Motorsport fuel pump
BBK Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator
Ford Motorsport GT 40 Upper and Lower intake manifold
Ford Motorsport 65 mm Throttle Body
Pro-M 75mm MAF Sensor
Ford Motorsport 30 lb. Injectors
Ford Motorsport 9mm Plug Wires
Ford Motorsport 10½ King Cobra Clutch and Pressure Plate
2003 Mustang Cobra Six Speed transmission
1999 Mustang Cobra Independent Rear Suspension with 3:55 Gears

All the electronics are stock '94GT. I have gotten it to fire up but it will not idle and runs really rough. I intend to take it to a shop and have it tuned, but would like to know enough of what should be done so I am not a the mercy of the shop. I think it should have a better distributor, but am unsure of what to get.

I would welcome any and all advice.

first off, HOLY SH*T!! UR CAR IS INSANE!!! 351W, T56, and an IRS?? wow

secondly, MSD makes a distributor for the 351. i recommend getting an MSD 6AL and new coil while ur at it.

try messing around with the timing to see if that helps the rough idling

if the msd doesn't work it might be the computer of the 94 and a custom chip might have to be an option

Are you using a roller cam? I ask because the distributer drive gear and camshaft is going to get chewed up unless you swap it out for
a bronze gear.
Then, is your mass air meter calibrated for 30lb#?
You will still need to take your car to be tuned properly but it should run until then.

the steel dizzy gear will be fine, that's oem for a roller cam. i have a 95 with a 351, but i am using the stock t-5 and live axle. i have all the parts for a 4.10 gear swap, i just need to go through with it.

my setup currently includes a 650 speed demon, but i am looking into going back with efi due to high gas prices and **** poor driveability when cold. what i want to know is, can i bypass the remote tfi? i have an msd dizzy and 6AL box that i would like to continue to employ. i know that the pcm controls spark advance, so i could conceivably disable my mechanical advance and let the pcm put the spark where it should be, but will the pcm be able to be triggered by the msd dizzy? mucho confusiono. any experience in this aena would be helpful.

you could tune it yourself if you get a tweecer, an eec tuner, or afm pms. that way, if you ever change cams or injectors, you can just change the tune yourself. this is the direction i am heading, since i plan to replace the 351 with a fat daddy 418. i'm talking solid roller cam gm eliminator, here. need some tunability options with that kind of grunt.

good luck, i guess i didn't help much. take it sleazy.
