i would go long tubes, definately.

the 351W has a longer deck height, meaning it is taller. therefore, the exhaust ports are higher. you need new headers to reach all the way up to the taller 351W exhaust ports

The 302 headers will physically bolt on the 351 but the problem is that they are now going to hit the steering shaft as well as the frame
rails in the rear.
As to answer the which type to go with"short or long" you just need to ask yourself this; Can i get a set of headers that will bolt onto my existing aftermarket exhaust system or should i spend all the extra money and convert it over to long tube as i will also need a matcing X or H pipe?
If you have a nice exhaust system then to me it doesnt pay to change. Just buy shorty headers.
If you have a stock exhaust then i say yes, do the long tube.
