Hamid recently reminded me that in stock configuration our 4.0L's put down a factory torque number of 240#. Not sure what reading you'd get on a chassis dyno.
aha! See, it was a tech post! LOL! [sm=burnout.gif]

I guess another question is, is it worth it???? Over$4000..+ switching to premium gas. for that you gould get a GT stay on 87 octane, and have more or less the same power....
thats still $1000 cheaper then the sticker of a new GT, also 13 second V-6 > 13 second GT which would you rather see?
Except for the better rims and tires, better shocks/suspension, better brakes, LSD, dual exhaust, better (manual) tranny, bigger rear end, and of course those cool fogs!
+1, i think all in all, its cheaper to get the GT than to make the v6 as over-all good as the GT.

$19,995 Base v6
$4,795 Turbo
$1,000 Install
$200 T-lok
$500 Install
$500 Duals
$90 Sway Bars
$99 Breaks
$1,199 Kit, Rims

You also cant forget the price of excessive dyno runs, the blown engnines, broken driveshafts, leaking chargers, and all those type of things....oh and the lack of warranty, but if we just dont include all of that

Total $28,378

Base GT $26,020

I think that if you threw $2,358 into a base GT you could have a pretty nice car that could very well be faster than the v6, plus you would be running 87 in the GT if you wanted

i love my 6, dont get me wrong though

You're not going to get a GT for $26,000 - $29,000. You MIGHT if it has little on it and it's an '05... The cheapest GT I found between Tampa and Orlando and a bit further out is 27,000 base price and that was it. The only thing I liked about it was that it was a V8 and a manual. For a brand new '06 GT, you're going to pay around $34,000 because you don't get discounts. You can mod your V6 with a F/I and make it faster than a GT and spend the same amount.

Your numbers to build up a V6 are high... You can go with the Vortech, install it yourself. 2 hours for dyno time. Get a track-lok... you don't need duals... and you don't need to spend $2k on kit/wheels... The difference between my loaded V6 and a GT was $8,000... I can build up a V6 that will take down a GT for LESS than a GT.. plain an simple...

Blown motors... hmmm... you either got greedy (ME!) or you had a bad tune... You can blow your GT motor just as easy... Driveshaft problem has been fixed... Warranty?? I drive 30,000 miles a year... even if I hadn't modded my warranty would be gone.. LOL

i havent even put a power adder on my car yet, and i already hang with some of the stock gt's here, even beat my tuner (he has an 05 gt auto) at the track heads up.

When i bought my car the only gt on the lot was 34k, i paid 19,910 for my car. 15k goes a long way, ill be running 10s before i get to 34k.

Got my GT for 26k brand new. It's definitely possible. Just gotta shop around. But that's beside the point.

The point is....if you've got a V6 and wanna get it blown, have it! Show us some dynos and tear up some track man, it's all in good fun. Ultimately, no matter what you do, in some measure or by some way of looking at it, someone will have something better or done it better. It's not throwing away your money IF you're getting what YOU want out of it, imo.

I'm all about modded V6's. Just as fun as a modded V8 in most ways and you get the added bonus of turning heads when you run that monster (like Rygen's car) and get good strip times and people find out it's "just a V6" after they've been staring at his tail pipes for a 1/4 mile.
