if you have 4k trade in yousrs add 4k down and you wont be paying much a month for a GT but me personally even though i have the money to buy it all at once ill never buy the gt. Its way more fun making a v6 fast to me i dunno why

if you want the gt and have money, you should consider trading in your v6. however, if you want to keep your car, find some way of f/i, then when the 4.5L kit comes out jump all over that

I'm not going to vote either way, but one thing I thought about at one time was possibly dropping a HO 302 EFI crate engine. Either that, or finding a 5.0 out out of a wreck and making it better.

ok, almost all of the electronics, the entire driveline, and the fuel system will have to be replaced. SELL THE CAR AND BUY A V8! it will cost a lot less

Swapping a 6 to an 8 was easy in 1966 .... obviously not the scenario in 2006.

What if the swap doesn't go well and now you don't even have a running vehicle ... and defintely woudn't have a warranty. Just sell the 6 and get a GT.

ORIGINAL: ST4NG

Well.... I'm recieving a nice check from my great grandmothers life insurance policy. (Unfortunatley thats why im getting the check.) And I am considering swapping my V6 engine out for V8 engine. (Ford OEM 2005 - 2006 GT Engine)

I've been looking on ebay and it'll be within the budget im giving myself for my car. $2500 for the engine, $500 (guesstimate) shipping, and $1000 to have it dropped in. For a total of $4000.

Do you think its worth it? I'd be open to other engines, however i'd be very hesitant. I'll have to check out ford racing's crate engines, but then im afraid of what the results will be once its in.

I'd trade the vehicle in, but its going to cost me about the same to do so anyway.
sounds like somone has been playing too much Gran Turismo! you can just do that. forget about engine swaps you have to update all kinds of other things.

If you want v8 power that bad i suggest trading in for a GT. but the rest of the guys are right... spend that cash on a turbocharger and become king on your block.

Just wait a couple more months when they are really trying to get the 06 GT's off the lot. I almost got a GT for the same price i am paying now with 0 down. It was a good deal but the way they wanted to do it was dumb and i backed out of the deal. But just wait a bit and wheel and deal with them. You can get them down to your price and with a down payment you will pay hella low for it.

Ya... Ford is getting desparate.... they have $1,500 off on the '06s already, and they will go way below sticker. I have X plan, and last year, when I bought the V6, they would not budge off MSRP. Now, I just got an offer from a dealer for a new '06 Vert that stickers for $35,000..... the offer was $30,200. Almost $5000 off sticker (X Plan plus the $1,500 off). Damn... if they would have made that deal when I bought, I'd be in a GT. Now I will take too much of a bath on my vert.

And... you know what..... I really find that with the C&L and tune, my '06 goes damn fast, and pleanty fast for me at this point.

TO ORIGINAL POSTER.... you have a nice car. If it ain't tuned and CAI'ed.... do it. OTHERWISE, put Grannies inheritance in the bank, and let it grow into a great downpayment on your next Mustang.
