Supercharge??

I talked to some car guys, one of them a 2004 Cobra owner and they all told me its not worth to supercharge the V6, because of all the extra stuff I would have to upgrade as well, suspension etc... So all you supercharget out there how much total $$$ did you spend on your mod?? I have a Pony Package with the "GT Inspired suspension" what ever that means so Im wondering will I'll be able to stick with that and be ok. The only thing I thought about getting with the supercharger was the 8.8 rear end and true dual exhaust...will I need anything else???

RE: Supercharge??

I have a friend who works in marketing for ATI / ProCharger. He took me for a tour of the facility and for a drive in an 05 mustang V6 completely stock with the procharger s/c. No tuner, no chip, no special exhaust - but rated at almost 400hp. I have an 06 V6 with pony trim, Magnaflow single axle back and CAI. The engineers assured me this was more than adequate.
I drove the car w/o the suspension that we have on ours and it handled fine. If you are looking to race the car you may want to do more, but for street and fun application you don't have to do anything special. Part of the cost of the s/c is having it dyno-tuned, and having everything reset by the dealer for your car.
No, I'm not getting a kickback, just sharing info on a great deal for those of us who love our V6 with the Pony trim. This is a little pricey but well worth the investment if you consider the other paths for having that much hp and fun.

i would not go much over 400 hp on a stock calogne block, and an 8.8 isnt needed, get a detroit true trac and a rear girdle and the 7.5 will be fine,

All you need is a t-lok and some good tires.

and you cant have a supercharger without a tuner, whoever told ya that it didnt have a tuner needs to be shot. and to get a procharged 100% stock v6 to 400hp would take in excess of 14-16psi, which again, not smart.

we went over this before the last time you posted this info.

You could simply install a complete S/C kit which includes everything you need (read tuner and injectors) and keep the rest ot the car 100% stock and you'ld be fine... There are a couple of other upgrades that I would recommend...

1) Get rid of the stock muffler... a good aftermarket single or even a GT takes should be just fine... no need to spend the extra $$$ on duals. I love my MRT - $225
2) A limited slip differential. If you went the Trac-Lock route you're looking at perhaps $400 to $500 installed. I did a Trac-lock and gears for $900 out the door.
3) Lower control arms. Stock arms are designed for a comfy ride.. not performance... I would ditch the stock ones... Your looking at perhaps $125ish...

Is it worth upgrading a V6? You bet! With an intercooled S/C you should be between 280RWHP and 310RWHP... and that ain't shabby! LOL!

400hp at the crank is bout 350-360rwhp which again, will take about 14-16psi depending on supporting mods.
flapjack is about 330rwhp with 12psi i believe
