Default Manual Tranny Question

Hi all, just got my black 06 with leather, IUP, pony package and shaker 500 last week and am loving it so far....one question I have - I've heard about some problems shifting into reverse with the manual transmission, I have noticed that this is not the smoothest shift and sometimes takes me a few tries - is this a problem that will work itself out as the car breaks itself in or should I just take it in to the dealer right away? Thanks

the whole reverse thing is just the way our tranny works...there are ways to avoid not being able to switch into reverse though. if you are on a hill just let off the brake and roll back a little. While you are rolling shift into reverse and it should slide in fine. Other wise, shift through first and second really fast, then into reverse. I have no idea why, but it works for me.

what happens is th at the reverse gear is a spur gear, and the teeth are straight on.. it wont go in gear because the 2 gears your trying to mesh are inline with each other instead of stagard. so let your car roll an inch and it will slide in fine... ps all cars are like this... its just our mustang have a tighter tolerance
