starting probs
 

I have a 2002 GT that has trouble starting after a period of time has passed. when i turn over the engine it just keeps trying and trying to start but its like it doesnt have enough spark or fuel. but if i let it sit for 5 or 10 minutes after the initial try and it fires up, strange??? so i took it to have the computer checked out and he said the same thing i was thinking. he also suggested the sensors on the block(cam and crank sensors) are bad. so he replaced the cam sensor but not the crank. do not know why....... i am really stumped on this one. i was also told the battery(factory) doesnt have enough cold cranking amps to start. the mechanic told me that the factory alarm system might have something to do with it too. but im not sure if i believe that one. i have the basic bolt-on mods - exhaust, underdrive pulleys, cold - air intake, short throw shifter.

i honestly and truly appreciate ANY info.

Turn the key to the on position for a few seconds, until the dash lights go out, then crank it? It gives the fuel pump a few seconds to pump some juice to the engine. I've noticed my starts are smoother in the morning when I do this.

If that doesn't help, go see your friendly Ford dealer. Your warranty is probably over on an '02 so that sucks :/

i have done that. the mechanic told me to try to turn the key to the on position and then back to the off position two or three times. which has seem to workk so far , knock on wood. i also contacted A & E ( automotive engineering) person and he said it could be extra fuel in the lines and it "floods" the engine. but by cycling the key 2 or 3 times will clear the line and fire up. have you ever heard of that?

driving in snow is all about tightening the nut behind the wheel. Stay off the gas and brake and you wont lose traction.
