Are Euro-Spec DOHC heads compatible with our block?
any ideas, guys?
*wikipedia
2.9 Cosworth
A special DOHC version of the 2.9 was created by Cosworth Engineering in 1991. Although it shared the same block as the standard 2.9, power output was up to 195 PS (143 kW) and torque was boosted to 203 ft·lbf (275 N·m). This engine was used in the Ford Scorpio Cosworth 24V.
(disregard the hp/tq rating, considering this engine was using inferior PCM in 1991.)

RE: Are Euro-Spec DOHC heads compatible with our block?
Probably not. The Cologne block 2.9 V6 is quite different from the late model SOHC 4.0 which is also quite different even from the previous 4.0's (which were also standard single cam pushrod motors) used in such as the Ranger and Aerostar and Exploder. The only thing that they share really is the bellhousing bolt pattern (and I am not sure if these 4.0's still do...) The Cosworth heads were intended for the Cologne based (originally single cam in block pushrod) 2.9 block only. I am a Merkur enthusiast and I plan on replacing one of my Scorpio 2.9's with a Euro-spec Cossie 2.9. I've also thought about dropping an '05 Mustang motor and manual into a Scorpio...
Of course, if you've the time and money you could probably get these heads onto a 4.0, but why? (I've seen people spend the money to modify Volvo DOHC 2.3 head to fit the 2.3 Ford SOHC motor. Pretty enough to look at, but again, why?) Bling?

well... i'm taking out loans so i can afford to mod to some extent... i was thinking F.I. in a year or two
i was just wondering if it was possible... alot of curiosity really
i'm not so much about show either... i'm more interested in handling and power than looks (besides, it's a pretty bad-*** looking car as is)

I'm refinancing my house with cash out and I might use some of that cash out for mods, maybe.... Well, if you got a house with equity and want to get cash out for mods, let me know. I work mortgages part time. I really want to get the items in my wish list before Christmas.
