Default GT muffler, single or dual?

I have been looking into getting a GT muffler for my car as the first performance mod. I like the GT option as it seems that I can get a little HP and better sound out of a cheap upgrade.

While browsing through Ebay, I find that the best deals I can get involve buying both mufflers as a package deal. They come in better condition IMO. I would rather not have the left muffler rot in my garage. I like the look of a dual muffler setup.

Heres are my questions: Is there any performance gain I can expect from adding the second muffler(axleback)?Does it sound different from the single setup? Is it possible to add the left muffler later without adding to the cost, or is this something that I should do all at once?

I'm not a car person, so If I do the left muffler my car is gonna go to the shop at some point in the process(more money). I am pretty confident that I could do the right muffler without much trouble. I like the looks of the V6 bumper cover so a left muffler means I (orthe body shop) make a cut. I looked up a how-to on this site and I am about 25-50% that I could do it on my own. There is no way I could do the pipework.

I have no plans for F/I. I do plan on a CAI and Tune sometime before 2007 is out.

thanks for helping a newbie.

Unless you like the look and sound of the duals more, there isn't much reason to do it in your case.
The single GT muffler will free up some hp on your car and sound much better.
To do the duals you would need the drivers side mid-pipe (around $90+/-), a couple of hangers ($65+/- for 2), an X or H pipe(price varies whether you buy the X or go with a GT H and have the shop fab it up). Notching the driver's side isn't a problem at all for a shop to do if you don't feel comfortable doing it.
You can always buy both mufflers and just hang onto the driver's side muffler until you are ready to make the switch. The car will sound great with dual GT takeoffs in my opinion.

Wow!

OK, aside from a hole in the left side of the rear bumper, what else do I need to hook up both mufflers?

I never did the conversion myself....

Is there anyone in here that can share some light.... did you invert the GT supplied "Y" to make an "X" connection?

Does some one know of a link to an install example.....

Thanks
