C4 vs 5 spd
I always wonder howa setup auto running a nice stall would do against a manual. I just finished reading a test in MM&FF Feb 07 page 140 excellant article first time I ever seen or read this type of comparison test. They took a low 12 second Mustangsetup with theC4 with a (8') 4700 rpm stall converter, deep pan, heavy duty servo, and transbrake then installed a Ford manual Tremec 5 spd and ran 1/4 mile runs. I not going to say the out come (no wars ) but if you get a chance it was aexcellant read!

yup...stalled autos and race trannies will outrun manuals. you just can never shift fast enough to outrun an auto...their weakness is the launch, but stalled that is gone.

Ona side notethey alsodyno tested both setups they used an eddy-current dyno from Dyno Dynamic, these units have a reputation for delivering consistents results the dyno was loaded the same way for auto and manual the carproduced 27 more lb-ft with the manual than with the auto.

RE: C4 vs 5 spd
ya the power difference does have an effect the manual transfers the power to the ground better
but as far as strictly transmissions go a finly tuned auto can shift in .1 seconds
the fastest a human can is like .3 to .5 seconds but dont directly quote me on the numbers because they might not be just right but you get the point
