CA smog legal mods
I recently bought an '07 4.0 V6 Mustang and I'm a new member. I have been reading up on all the possible modifications for this vehicle and I can't wait to get started. I will probably just start with the basics like CAI, tune, exhaust. I noticed that none of the websites that sell CAI Tune combos say if they are smog legal in CA. Which ones can I buy?

In Santa Cruz.
I'm still looking for more info on the topic. I read on rpmoutlet.com that theAEM and K&N intakesare 50 state smog legal. Don't know about the others or the XCAL II tune though.

i'm in salinas, and i figure that unless it says otherwise, a CAI is SMOG legal.
some superchargers are only 49-state legal though, like x-charger High-Output kit.
you can always contact the company in question to ask them about their products.

RE: CA smog legal mods
I just said the hell with it yesterday LOL. After talking to a member on here about it, I could really give a crap about California's approval for an intake. I can see if it made my car spit flames out of the rear end... but then that would be even more incentive to buy it heh.
I bought an AFE intake. It's temporary until 1-2 years when I get a s/c thrown on it. I would have also equally chosen a K&N since I love the sound that usually comes from their intakes, but AFE was a little bit cheaper where I "bought" it from
I will just hold on to my original parts and change out when it comes time to take the car in etc... easy swap less than 30 mins.

it may or may not pass. Im just saying all the non tuner required ones shouldnt change your smog at all. It is randomly sent out to you to be smogged. Id say probably in 3 or 5 years of having the car you would get one. Also if the cop pops your hood at that point you would need to be smoggged. Also CA now has the mobile smog checkers out there too so you could get smogged immediately on the side of the road. My theory keep your stock parts. If you get caught put it back to stock and sell away the parts. Silly me i didnt keep my stock parts so if anything ever happens to mine. Im just going toregister non operational
