ford dropped the ball
Hi it's Richie again from the v8 side...just wanted to say I think Ford should offer a limited slip in the v6 mustangs, at least as an option if not standard...I remember when 5.0 mag took an employee's 99 v6 and it ran a 14.99 with just a K&N, removed silencer, y-pipe exhaust conversion, spare tire out, etc...hell my 90 GT only ran a 15.0 when I first got it! The sixers have gotten even faster since, and I think it's a crime that you've got to spin through one wheel. The day of the weak88hp2.3 fox mustang is long gone and Ford should address the issue that a lot of people ARE racing and modding the sixers! They're acting like it's a car for secretaries, just like back in 1965 before the competition from Camaro got them off their butts to start serving up some power. Agree?

RE: ford dropped the ball
How much did you all pay for your t-lok and gears with install. I just sold one of my sportbikes, and have some extra money to put into my mustang i got a month ago. I already got an mrt axleback and was going to do a t-lok and 3.73s, the ford dealer said it was going to be around 350 for the labor on top of the 410 for the parts. Should I just get a 8.8? I am also looking to get a c&l CAI with tune. What are some other first type modes I should be looking for? Suspension modes? Or should I just use all the money and get a S/C which I got priced at 5100 with install and dyno tune?

RE: ford dropped the ball
It really isn't even a matter of cost becuase ford put the 8.8 in just about every RWD car now. I don't evern think the ranger has the 7.5 anymore. Yes 3.55 as an option would be nice too.
Good thread.

I 100% agree with you. It would be a nice option but what can you do. They tell us what we want then we take it and change it to what we really want. Its how it works. Plus if they stuck the 8.8 in there we wouldnt modify it and thus keeping warranty on it which ford doesnt want. more $$$ out of their pocket. So i think they will be happy having us installing t-lok's and gears that eventualy fail and wont be covered.

As a matter of fact, around here, all I see are, umm, how do I put it... "elderly ladies" driving V6's...
Of course, they are doing 80 MPH in the slow lane.... LOL
Know what?
Who cares? As long as Ford builds an affordable pony that CAN be modified easily, I think we are ahead of the game!
Most cars in the 60's and 70's came with V8s and a "one leg" axle.
For $700 you can get a T-LOC installed.
For $700 you can get dual exhaust installed.
Sounds OK by me...
However, I have to agree that popping a 8.8 in the pony (while adding extra weight) would over time, reduce production costs if they could drop the 7.5" axle and just built the 8.8.....
ALL auto manufacturers have TOO DAMN MANY PARTS for the same cars!
Like the different part numbers for GT exhaust, Automatic or Standard, gimme a ****'n break!! What a waste of $$$... oh, and that is, I assume, 2 #s for the left and 2 #s for the right?
And when they build those super "futuristic" concept cars that no one would ever drive (much less buy)... $ for the bottom line goes out the door...
Let's see 'em build the new Cougar based on the 1970 Eliminator...
I'd buy one. I had 2 1970's back in the day...

the 7.5 is still widely used on the rangers and the mustangs, as well as the explorers. research before u speak. it makes you look dumb-dumb.. >.<

2. what's your point? We all know the 7.5 is still in production, I just suggested that a trak-lok in a 200+ hp car would make sense.
