i hear 4.10's are a little steep for the power that we make. i too plan on going with 3.73's when i get my t-lok

I posted the same question but for an Auto in the drivetrain section..
I am running 29" tall rear tires and was told that it would lower my effective ratio.
So 3.73's would feel like 3.55's and 4.10's would feel like 3.90's and 4.30's would feel like 4.10's.
After doing some calculations with the tire size, it makes sense.

I'll probably be going with 4.10's with my Auto because I feel I wont be satisfied with the difference with 3.73's.

Any ideas guys?

I have 3.73's and t-loc and I love them. The power is delivered much quicker to the wheels (both of them)
You will feel the power delivery difference on take off and on acceleration. I think it's the best mod for the $$ I highly recomend it. Don't cheap out on the install I hear that you can have a nightmare if the wrog guy does the job.

i think 3.73's are the way to go. i dont have gears but a buddy of mine has a GT and he just through in 4.10's and they have even more power then we do and that the gears just ruined that car. all he does is wheel hop now he has to find more traction solutions.

yeah, unless your car is being modded for more serious racing, 4.10's seem like a step too much for regular street drivers. just my opinion based off other's experiences. 3.73's seem like just enough extra kick for our 6ers. what parts need to be purchased when installing both gears and t-lok? where did you guys buy?

what is the height of the factory 17" bullits with tires? the effective ratio diff shouldn't be that big compared to the 29" tall tires, right?

go with the 4.10's. that guy that posted about his buddy putting 4.10's in his gt and getting nothing but wheelhop, is bull****. the guy is getting wheelhop b/c he doesnt know how to drive, and also b/c the stock gt suspension is ****, as is the 6er's suspension. throw in the 4.10's w/o a t-lock. i did, and i dropped from a 15.4 to a 14.2. u only gain about 1200 rpm w/ the 4.10's so its still mildly streetable. now think, if i had a posi, id prolly run, in my guestimates, a 14.1, primarily b/c i just have issues w/ spinning off the line, even when i baby it, w/ the one-wheeled-wonder (open dif). the 6er's dony make much power as it is, so the 4.10's will really wake it up.

thats my earlier point, if you intend on making your stang a race machine, go with 4.10's. if you want something to give you a little more kick in the *** than stock on the streets and daily driving only, 3.73's should probably be enough.
