99% of the time the brand of gears has absolutely nothing to do with gear whine. Sure there are some brands out there with sub-par quality product but as long as you stick with a well known manufaturer you should be ok. Gear whine has to do with several tolerances that are set at installation. Whine could be froma incorrect amountshim thickness, the pinion depth relating to the ring, excessive backlash, orincorrect preload among other factors. Ford Racing gears are made by Motive gears, so you could save yourself alot of money and cut out Ford and go straight to Motive. I was always a fan of Richmond gears on customer's vehicles, great reliability. Either way go for a Quality manufacturer, go ahead and spend the $80 or so for the install kit with new bearings, seal, shims, and crush collars, and choose your installer very carefully, and remember just because someonecan bolt-on parts that doesnt make them a mechanic by any means. Do your homework and choose a real mechanic just not a glorified parts changer lol. I would not recommend installing gears by yourself unless you are VERY familiar with them.

Oh and Im not sure about that part number but you should be able to find it on a google search.

I have Ford Racing 3.73 gears and T-loc no whine at all. I think the whie has more to do with the install.

yes, i've read the whine is associated with the install but justs trying to find the easiest gears to install. I found the ford gear with the part number above for $173. just wondering if those are the new one cut pass gears? Also Im looking for a good install in the dallas area.

Im sorry but gears are all the same when you are talking about install.None of them are "hard" to install, you just have to know the tolerances and have the tooling to measure for all the setup. The only difference is the diameter like ours is the 7.5 and gt is 8.8. Thats not a bad price from Ford for those gears either, just be sure to get the installation kit also. Go to Nascar.com and they have a mechanic search for Certified mechanics in your area.

Ive read the old gears are cut with a three pass process and the new one's are one pass. Of course they have to be the same size to fit in the housing but there are different manufacturing processes.
