so you send your heads and cams out to SSM and then get them back finished? what about the tune?
ya and honestly you should have it dyno tuned after all that! Nothing will make these cars run more correct that a good dyno tune.

i will just need something temporary until i find a tuner. can i get something from an internet tuner to get it to run okay until i can max out the potential with a dyno tune?

I'd call around maybe ask a few that have H/C done, they generally don't hang around here thou

I doubt it. Iconsidered getting my heads P&P locally by a shop I've used for many years on older Fords. They would even remove the heads and install too, but that is something I would enjoy doing myself. The plan was to tow the car after the heads are installed to a dyno shop and have it tuned there. Given the cost of heads and cams, it is worth the added cost for the dyno tune to make sure nothing internally gets fried.

For me, I haven't come to terms with the total expenditure being worth it for me. Sure, it would be great to have quicker ET's at the track. But that's more coin than I'm currently willing to drop. That's the same reason I haven't gone FI. There are too many other ways to spend my money than to pick up 1.5-2.0 seconds in the 1/4 mile. For the cost of FI, I will have another car in the driveway to wrench on, and I'll still have my 4.0L to drive around and hunt for low 14's (my best runs so far are 14.4's). I do agree with Ron about dyno tunes being good for maximizing the 4.0L's performance, and will be getting one to replace my custom mail-order tunes (which are great for 95% of the people out there).

Sorry for derailing the thread, but it started on-topic [8D]

okay, i have one final ? for you guys. if i get my cams reground to be maximized for n/a, can i later have them reground againto maximize, lets say, and x-charger?i want to take my car as far as i can n/a before going f/i, and im just wondering if this will be possible. also, since my final plan involves going f/i, if i get my cams "maximized" for f/ishould i still see significant power gains staying n/a for a while, and be able to have it tuned properly forn/a? i feel i should get my heads and cams done before going f/i because it makes more sense in that sequence.
