so... i'm trying to look into the whole non-open diff setup, and i'm getting scared away from the t-lok due to the many stories I've read of them failing. more stories of failures than good ones, although, don't get me wrong, for what i think i plan to do with my car the tlok should be okay. however, i haven't read too much about auburn lsds on our 7.5s (or maybe I'm just blind), but I was wondering if anyone has ever gone with this setup or if anyone has any experience with such a setup. The price makes it more appealing than the detroit for me (plus, i don't think i want to go that big yet), at $330-350 on ebay (probably cheaper ones if i look around some more). thanks in advance!

RE: auburn posi
Ok I am going to jump in on this thread because, Imyself have been wanting to go back to a posi setup. I used to have a 10 bolt Chevy Posi in my truck and that thing was tough as heck. I did to many burnouts to count. Anyway I am really tired of the one wheel burnouts and I also have read Dans other threads and I want to know a good posi without going to a full detroit because I was planning on a Tlock until I found out all of this.

If you don't plan on living at the track.. or aren't using your car in burnout contests.. the ford racing t-lok is plenty sturdy... Especially if your engine is close to stock (stock or CAI + tune).
If you are that worried, order a GT rear and have that installed instead.

RE: auburn posi
great. there goes my thread.
newtakeoff.com has them, as do some other online takeoff places like v6mustangstuff and whatnot. you might want to google it for a good deal
so... i plan on (for now) using my car like 98% street and maybe 2% play... why is it that people recommend manuals to go with something stronger - are they assuming a higher rev start/torque application for drag racing? i certainly won't be drag racing at this point, but i do plan on doing some... car testing . i love powerslides two wheels spinning would totally help me control them like 10 times better, AND i could switch from going one direction to the other without having to worry... i think?
correct me if i'm wrong, but I guess the t-lok probably wouldn't be bad for this application...

RE: auburn posi
my car has been to the track once, i blew the spiders out on a 1-2 bump shift on a bone stock 02 auto
i blew my auburn up in my old camaro, and there have been stories of them failing in 7.5s
eaton or a detroit true trac are ;your two best bets
