Default 8.8 rear

so a local listing popped up for an '05 gt 8.8 axle takeoff - its got 16K on it but the guy says it had no problems. he wants about $225 for it, but before I make the dive I had a few questions that I was hoping someone might be able to help me answer.

would the '05 gt 8.8 come equipped with a lsd/ t-lok? Obviously I will ask to make sure, but I was just wondering if it was factory or just an option. also, does this sound pretty reasonable? I know the chepeast t-loks for our 7.5s i've seen are like $170, and this whole rear end isn't much more.

and 8.8 is already locked. right now u have open differential. the 8.8 will put burnouts to both wheels, thus giving better traction.

You will need the ford pinion flange, its part no. E9TZ-4851-A. Other than that you should be fine.

You will also need the V6 pinion flange.

maybe get some gears put into the 8.8 rear end before you swap your 7.5......just a thought.

At that price I'd grab it - to set up your 7.5 with gears and Tlok will cost you more than that. In fact if you don't want it let me know and I'd arrange something when I come out to LA next month!

Hell, I am working in San diego this week. I would go buy it and have it shipped to Colorado for that!

lol thanks for the responses. i was thinking about the whole gear thing if I got it because I would definately open it up to inspect it, and throw in some new oil, so while I'm at it might as well do gears right?

i would love to upgrade my rims... know anyone selling some cheap takeoff arizona beige/anthracite bullits? lol.

Gears aren't something you should do yourself...
