Battery disconnect and custom tunes?

Battery disconnect and custom tunes?
I'll get right to it....Has anyone had any problems with losing their custom tunes from a dead battery? Does disconnecting the battery for electrical mods cause us to lose our custom tunes?
I have read that reflashing and losing battery power are very similiar regarding the computer codes that Ford can read. (a reflash can be explained as a battery disconnect to install a car stereo) I just wonder if the effects are the same. Some of the equipment I work on leads me to think this might be true. If I remove the memory maintaining battery to some things I work on, it reverts to factory default settings.
I wonder if our cars are the same way?
Please post up if you have experience with this.

RE: Battery disconnect and custom tunes?
I have disconnected my battery and it does not effect my 87 tune.
I have discovered the reflash may fail if your battery is low.
My battery does not seem to be low, but I now have to remove the fan fuse and fuel pump relay (per the instructions) or the relash will fail. I never had to do that before.
