Default 8.8 or 7.5

Ok I am not going for major power, I guess my maxium power to the rear wheels would be something like 260 or around that. So what would you guys do, try to find a 8.8 with a Tlock or just buy a Tlock for the 7.5. I was considering getting the 7.5 Tlock for now because in the future I am going to go FI and do some major motor work but as for now I am just going to do minor stuff like my full exhaust system, intake, TB, and a Custom Tune. So would you all go for the 8.8 and spend the money now or just get the Tlock for the 7.5 because I dont know how much a 7.5 Tlock will hold

Also I wont be changing any rear gears either

Speaking for myself, if you're going FI and unsure about how much the 7.5 would hold, I'd just go 8.8. That way, you're not basically doing the same thing twice IF the 7.5 went to hell for whatever reason. Just makes more sense to me. You may hear different though.

Go 8.8"

Stronger. Better. Faster (with gears )

I had the same dilemma about 3 months ago... I ended up trying to go the 7.5" route, but luckily for me I scored a heck of a deal on a takeoff 8.8" from craigslist, so I ended up going that way. Nice thing was, I paid $225 for a rear end that already had 3.55s installed AND LSD. It was a win-win situation... For what it sounds like you want to do, go with the 8.8, that way you won't ever have to second guess yourself.

Trust me...8.8...have it and it rocks You'll want one with at least 3.73 or 4.10s...trust me on that too Why would you spend your money twice when you could just spend it at once and SAVE money for FUTURE MODS

Its pretty much a tossup money wise between the installation cost, gears & T-lok for the 7.5 or getting an 8.8 takeoff. I was going to go installation of gears & t-lok in my 7.5 but the parts dealer never sent me the parts I ordered so when I got my money back I called newtakeoff.com and for $965.00 got my 8.8 w/3.55s delivered to my door. Easy to install, quiet running gears and knowing you have a stronger rear. Very satisfied.

If you're not going with major mods the 7.5 is fine and saves 50lbs.

I put 4.10 T-Lok($50, pulled it out of a minivan in the junkyard) in my 7.5 last year and love it. Quicker and I went from 13 to 18mpg in the city. I just went on a 5 day 1,000 mile trip (elevation varied from sea level to 4,500ft) and got 25mpg hwy with a full trunk & 2 people.

If you plan on going with big power adders then go with the 8.8.

Well I wont be going with anything major right now anyways, I was just going to get the stuff I listed above. As for gears, the only way I will get them is if I order a 8.8 and it already has them but I was just figuring I would stick with the 3.31s. I would get an 8.8 rear to start with because I can afford the rear itself, but the shipping would absolutely kill me. I mean I would pay 100+ for shipping that is really the only reason I have considered going with the Tlock, because it is cheaper to begin with but I would pay for the strenght of the 8.8 but the Tlock would save me big money on shipping especially

Ok I guess now my question is where can I find one, that has either 3.31 or 3.55 gears for cheap and it wont freakin rape me on shipping. www.v6mustangstuff.com has some them pretty cheap with the right gear but I dont know about how much shipping will be
