Default 8.8 axel on a 7.5 Mustang ?

ok my idiot brother hit a curb a while back , crack 2 of them rims , we replaced the rims and got a alignment , but I'm getting this horrible squeaky noise when driving and even when driving slow It sounds like my tire is rubbing up against something. The noise is also there when braking . Its coming from the passenger side rear wheel which is one of the places of impact. And now making right turns my car tends to slide if I take it too fast. like I'm driving with traction control off .

I went to Midas and Mieneke and both said it was a bent axel. when they had it in the air I saw when the wheel was moving the back passenger tire wasnt spinning straight it was wobbly . I plan on taking it to the dealer tuesday b/c there isnt any sign of impact and just acting like I have no idea what happened then screaming at them until they fix it. b/c my car is under warranty. But if that doesnt work

Will a 8.8 Rear Axel work on our 7.5 cars ? one such as this

I don't know about the site you linked to, I didn't see any for a Mustang there.

You can swap to the 8.8, you only need to change to a Cobra rear flange to match up to the V6 driveshaft. You can get a take off 8.8 at many sites, here is just one, scroll down to the last third of the page:

are they're any sites that just sell axle's for the 7.5 themselves ? I called a ford deal and they said it was like $550 IDK if that was for the Axle Assembly or just for one axle itself. sounds like it might've been the assembly.

One axle is 465.27! MSRP. Axle housing assemble is $1408.30!!!! MSRP. Plus install on both. Either way this is going to cost! I doubt very much that a dealer is going to put this on your warranty. A sure sign of curb impact IS a bent axle. You can also check newtakeoff.com for an 8.8 rear. I got mine for $805.00(3.55s)with $165.00 shipping. This is a very easy changeover. Were do you live because there might be some members who still have there 7.5s after changing over to 8.8. You can also check out some salvage yards. I think this might be a good time to have a talk with you brother about his responsibility in this. Good Luck

Wow...good to know there are decent honest folks out there like you.

Why in the heck should Ford pay to fix your car that your brother broke?

+1, have your brother make an insurance claim

DTS has axles for ~$110, you can throw a LSD and a set of gears in there rear if you wanted to while its getting done

I have to agree... why should Ford pay for something your bro damaged??
That's out and out fraud.

+2
sorry dude but i have to agree, this is why ford are so tight with their warranty policies

checkout newtakeoff.com i would definatley go with an 8.8 rear end they are about $800 up
and this way, if you wanted to put a blower on your stang, you wont have to worry about the rear end
lol

Dude, where are you located? I have a complete 7.5 axle assembly with 3.73 gears and a t-loc sitting in my garage.
Yeah, I went the 8.8 route because of higher power levels, but would have stuck with the 7.5 otherwise.

I was able to find some aftermarket axles awhile back for 7.5's, too, but not many.
Swapping the whole rear end is not that hard, especially with 2 people.
