Default MAC CAI + 93 Tune = Smoother Stang

Car: 2007 V6
CAI: Full MAC CAI setup
TUNE: Xcal 93 from local speed-shop

Originally, I was just going to put an Xcal tune on the car and keep running 87. After seeing the difference the Xcal made on responsiveness w/ 87, I said "Let's keep going." Installed the MAC setup and 93 tune, and while I won't claim the car goes any faster, it feels more responsive and doesn't feel like it has to work as hard driving. Got to love the "Swooooosh!" too when you get on it.

That's cool. I've also wondered how much of a difference (performance wise) it would be between 87 and 93 when loading a tune. My Diablo Sporting Tuner should be arriving soon (finally bought one). I'm thinking of fueling up with 93 octane first to see the potential. Would you or anyone else in this forum know if you can still load a tune when already having a cold air intake? By the way, does the tune support the AFE cold air intake? I've tried looking for it on the website, but couldn't find it.
Any help is much appreciated.

My understanding from reading posts is that if you have a CAI w/ a larger MAF sensor than stock, you should have an appropriate tune made to compensate for the increased airflow. If it's just a K&N CAI or something that doesn't change the size of the MAF or tubing, you're probably ok running it with a canned tune. As far as what the Predator can do, I'll defer that to someone else...

True.
But, you really want a tune, ideally a custom tune, to match the CAI to how it actually performs in your car. Even if you get a K&N cai, getting a tune to support it makes a BIG difference (been there, done that!).

Do you mean that problems may occur or that a custom tune is best for the best performance.
Thanks

With the custom tune, you'll get the most performance and bang for the buck.
