For most cars, you have to look at your fuse box diagram and simply pull the fuse for the daytime running lights. I kinda doubt that it will be clearly labeled as daytime running lights, but it should have some sort of lighting label, so it will probably take some trial and error unless you can find someone else who knows better.

Just out of curiosity, how did you end up with daytime running lights?

Don't most insurance companies give a discount if you have daytime running lights? I'd keep them if mine did

I have been researching this since I picked up my 06 with DRL. From what I have found, a dealer has to reprogram the smart junction box to remove the option. I have heard of some people bypassing with a few relays (in order to use HID's) but haven't seen a decent directplug kit.

I gave the car in my picture to my daughter this past weekend and purchased the convertible from a local dealer. The car was in a rental fleet and came with them. I personally just do not like DRL's, safety considerations aside.

My 05 came with it when I bought mine used a few yrs ago. My car was purchased new back in 05 up in Canada. Little did I know though when I bought it mine had the DRL's. I went to a few local Ford dealers and asked them to disable my DRL's. Once they ran a VIN report on their Oasis, my car came up as Canadian. Even though I live in FL they still wouldnt disable them being that my car was from Canada. What I do to disable them I ride with my E brake up one notch. Bad thing about that is that annoying beeping sound for a few mins.

If the OASIS report shows US delivery destination, then NO, DRLs
should not be programmed by the dealership for US vehicles.

They can be disabled by a simple DPDT lighting relay.
