8.8 Rear axle swap questions.

8.8 Rear axle swap questions.
So I purchased a direct v6 replacement 8.8 axle with 4.10 and a tlok from new take off. What do I need to do the swap besides tools and help from some friends. Do I need any other parts? I heard that I might have to put a gt drive shaft in.

Well if you got the 8.8 with the preinstalled V6 pinion flange, nothing more is needed.
Except all those pesky one time use suspension fastners.
The GT driveshaft wont fit the V6 as the GT driveshaft of the two piece flavor
and the V6 is a one piece driveshaft.

The driveshafts have different ends; the V6 one has 4 bolts, the GT one I think has 6, with a different hole pattern.
If the new rear end didn't come with the ucs bushing, you'll have to pull out the one from the 7.5 (after it's out from the car) and put it in the 8.8. That ***** is pressed in, and I used a 3-jaw puller and large socket to get it out and in, but it was a real bitch.
Otherwise all the parts swap and bolt up right over.

The only real way to do it with the 05-09 S197 mustangs is
to modify parameters in the PCM with an aftermarket tuner.
Bout $350. And while you are at it, just the matching $250
CAI for about 15-25 more HP.
I would get a new UCA bushing and
not try and reuse the old 7.5" rear end bushing.
Its worth the $$ to save the time trying to get
the old bushing out without damaging it.

It might be easier just to put in a new bushing, yes. make sure you get it on only part of the way as should be shown in the instructions. You can also use the position of the bushing on the 7.5 as a guide. From the larger end, it's supposed to be like 0.45" away from the rear end housing part where the bushing goes into.
And a tune is really the only way to tell the computer that you have different gear ratios; there is no 'speedometer gear fix' for our cars.
