BBK Cold Air Intake
I was thinking about getting this intake, says it doesnt require a tune and I cant really afford more than this anyway haha. Anyone have it? does it have a noticable gain at all? And even though it doesnt require a tune, if i ever decide to get a tuner will it be even more noticable?
im pretty much a noob when it comes to this stuff haha, thanks for the help.

You will likely see some increase in throttle response and engine sound will change a bit. Very little performance increase with any CAI without a tune. I would save up for a combo package like a C&L w/ a tuner rather than go down this road. I say this omly because I owned a K&N intake and another before the C&L and I can tell you there was very little difference in performance.

i have it, if you dont plan on getting a tune, dont get it. its pretty common for these to make us run lean. mine did it, and i know of at least 3 more of these stories. i just had doug at bama right a tune for it and its a very usable cai. i enjoy it.

To run lean, means your air/fuel mixture is off. Lean means more air and less fuel than you should have. "Rich" means more fuel and less air than you should have. It is very important to have the mixture correct. If you run to lean you will throw engine codes. It can also damage your engine.
Generally it is a good idea to do a CAI/tune combo. The tune will correct the air/fuel ratios as well as change some other settings. Many people say that if you don't do a tune, a CAI is kinda worthless. (this is what I've heard)
Also many people say that tunes void warranties. The nice thing about a tune is that you can put it back to stock at any time. You simply plug the tuner back into the car and push a couple buttons and magic. 5-10 minutes tops. The tuner saves your factory settings to allow you to go back at any time. Then you just put the factory air box back in a go to the stealership. They won't know the difference. When you put it back to stock, their computer will say that it was "reset." Just like what happens when the battery is unhooked or goes dead (oops I left the headlights on).

Best Advice, do not get the BBK CAI. I would highly recommend you get a CAI/Tuner combo it will save you money and grief later on down the road. I bought both of mine seperately better to get them both at the same time.

Get a cai & tuner together! There are quite a few dealer that have good prices on cai/tuner packages. Try VMP or bama for a start. VMP has a cai for $105.00 and a cai/tuner combo for about $450.00. I have it on my car and it runs hard! Well worth the money!!
