Yeah, that's not a great install. The cheapest fix is to cap it, but you'd definitely be better off with either an X or H pipe, which all by itself might even help with the droning issue by altering how much pressure is going down each pipe. If not, add a resonator. Live and learn. Good luck.

You could try installing Dynamat to make your ride quiet. It also will make your stereo sound much better too.

Dynamat might help a little, and you should do it if only to improve the sound quality of your stereo. But if it were my car, I would be more interested in fixing the exhaust problem rather than masking it.

If I paid a shop to do my exhaust and they did that to it, I would be very upset. The "right" way they should have done it is either X, H, or even another Y.

I had a Roush 427R that had an obnoxious drone at hiway speeds. I had a Pypes X-pipe installed and a steeda CAI with a dyno tune and the car was almost as quiet as our 2003 Honda Accord EX v6.

Pypes makes 2 X-pipes: one that works with the stock cats and one that wants their cats. I went with the first option because the stock Ford cats are actually not too bad.

I just sold that car and am starting a new project.

Would either one of these be good?

rockon, either one would be good. the magnaflow one says that it requires shorty headers. If you don't have headers on, I would go with the pypes

Stock are considered shorty headers, and both pypes and magnflow say shorty is required. I'd get the pypes just because of the price difference.
