Default Got my transmission serviced. Dang!

I got my transmission serviced at the 30,000 mile maintenance last week. I was really whining about having to pay $200 for a trans. oil and filter change, but I have to say that this service totally transformed my V6 auto. I bought it as a used 2008 a year ago. It had been a rental down in Florida. I loved the look of the car but was really disappointed in the acceleration. My minivan could beat it! I tried resetting the engine computer and added a GTA exhaust. This helped a little, but the car was slow to downshift and had a hard time pulling up hills. My gas mileage also was bad. The trans. service changed everything. It now moves forward quickly from a stop and pulls easily up hills. My gas mileage improved about 2 mgp. That must have been one dirty trans filter! Should have checked this earlier. Doh!

hmmm. I wonder if the previous owner of my car had it regularly serviced. Its the smoothest shifting automatic if ridden in and accelerates great.

I also have an '08, previously a rental (as you can tell by our door moldings, lol!) Thanks for posting the info, it's good to know this! I'm at 23K and the car accelerates and cuts up hills like a hot knife thru butter. As I approach the 30k mark I'll be expecting to do the same.

Yeah, I never really noticed the moldings when I bought the car, but I've gotten so much razzing about them on this forum I think it's time to take the suckers off. Now they are the first thing I notice every time I walk up to the car! They look like they'll come off pretty easily. Some hear have said that a hair dryer and fishing line will work. I'm worried about messing the paint up but may give that a try soon.

Me too! it's like committing the ultimate sin in Mustang Land, lol! The razzing here is relentless! I was also told of the fishing line trick but now that it's colder I decided to keep them on for the winter (07Stang will kill me)...just in case some idiot in a parking lot bangs into my doors. Even though I park away from everyone there's still that ONE person who comes along to keep your car company!

I'm approaching 100K even though book says 150K, I will have done at 100K using normal driving habits for almost 4 years. 80% highway driven. Still gets same mpg when bought new.

Wow, that's impressive. How has the car treated you? Any problems with that much mileage?
