I had two Pypes X-pipes crack on my car due to poor welding. If the can't get a simple part like that right, I sure wouldn't trust their headers on my car. I went with JBA, and have been 100% satisfied with the quality.

It seems like a lot of the members here have pypes products, but Torch, you are one of the first that I have heard say 'no more'. Over the years I have heard nothing but bad about their stuff, I was starting to think that has changed.

I went with the JBA's because they are CARB certified and I'll be ok with CA smog inspections.

Besides the poor weld quality on the two X-Pipes, I had a kit where one of the over axle pipes was totally mis-bent and missed meeting the muffler's inlet by a good 4", and I had to go all the way to the president of the company to get help getting a replacement for that one, because it was "impossible" according to their service dept for them to produce a badly formed pipe. They even claimed that the retailer (a large name brand operation) must have stolen the Pypes midpipes out of the sealed box abd substituted inferior replacements .

I also had 2 of their stainless exhaust hangers where the rubber centers dry rotted and cracked in less than a year, while the existing three year old factory hangers were still just fine.

I know others that have had more positive experiences, but Pypes will never see another nickel of my money, I don't need to be wasting hard earned money on poor quality junk and causing myself headaches.

means that they are certified by the state of california. there should be no issues when you go for a smog test.

We don't have to worry about it here in Michigan.

It is the California Air R(something) Board I think. Part of the smog stuff out there.

CARB = California Air Resources Board.

CA DMV requires a SMOG check/emissions test every two years, after a vehicle is 6 model years old. Our 2005 Mustangs should be coming up for testing next year.
