Default Gears and rpms and MPGs

Hi all I am really thinking hard about Upgrading to a T-lok and taller gears. But i am torn between 3.73 and 4.10. Can the guys that have different gears post your MPG and what the RPMs are doing around 60 or 70mph.

My main draw back on going with the 4.10 is every year me and my dad drive from Seattle to Vegas. At around 70mph my car is spinning at 2000 RMPs. Most of the trip i might even be driving 80 and I am leery if i go with to tall of gears it my might start to get to noisy in the car. I am only running dual take offs with a Basani X pipe but might go to flowmasters in the future.

The fuel is not a Super Big deal unless it going to drop 4-5 mpg + then i might think a little harder about it. In that case might go with the 3.73. Right now on the hiway i get 26-28mpg. (darn bumper and wide tires)

thanks for the help

I am also considering doing this right now on my 2010 V6. I see that NTO has the 8.8 rear axel with t-lok, abs and 3:73 gears for around $800. DO you guys think this is a good deal? Also this set that I am talking about is labeled 05-09, think it will work on a 2010?

has a drivetrain calculator thanks Nice Pony, has inputs for gear ratio, tire size, etc and give you rpms at different speeds and such.

PS. Glad to see MF finally removed the stupid censor on Collective links.

Thats Awsome. Now i would just like to get some MPG information. with spacifice ratios

I really like the idea of going to the 8.8 rear end from NTO. What all is needed to do the conversion for a GT rear end in to a v6. Would i need the GT rear breaks or something else? Reading post it sound like it better to have the gears and tlock installed by a shop. But I think swapping the rear end would be fairly easy in comparision. By the time i spent money for the Gears, T Lock, and install. I am looking at close to 1,000 where i could spend the same 1,000, install the GT axle myself and have a better setup.

Or is a axle swap more difficult then i think?

It would be cool if we could get all this info together and then make a sticky for it.

MPG info is too dependent on specific car, driving habits, honesty (:P) etc to get a definitive answer. I always laugh at the MPG threads cuz people with the same setups can vary by so much - Someone will claim they get 30 mpg while the next says 23. Big difference. You don't really know because your driving style and your particular car are somewhat unique

100% true. i once pulled off 34.7 mpg's!

... only lasted about 1.5 seconds immediately after pushing the mpg reset button while driving on the highway. maybe if i continually reset it while driving, i can actually claim that high of a mark, start a new thread and post it in my sig!..... LOL,

I think i will just go with the 8.8 and 3.73 I think i can handle that install myself and the fuel Mileage wont suffer that much
