Best Supporting Mods for a Supercharger?
Hey guys, I am going to eventaully supercharge my 4.0, probably in a few years though. So what mods should I be looking at now that will work good with and without a supercharge. I am not going to get a CAI since it would just be a waste of money with the FI. I think for now I am just going to get the FRPP tuner and air filter (just something to improve the throttle response for now and not a total waste with the FI). I already have the FRPP dual exhaust but that is really my only performance mod so far. I was looking into getting some 3:73 gears on an 8.8 from NTO but my dad is convinced that gears are the devil and will "kill my gas mileage because they are only for racing" and even though the car is mine and I pay for everything, I would rather not upset him. Maybe you guys could help me sell them to him or any other advice would be great.
Thanks

I had 3.73's on my car (pre S/C) and it didn't affect my gas mileage that much, I think I lost about 3 mpg. I have since upgraded the rear end to the 8.8 with 3.55's and am getting about 22-23 on the highway with the S/C.
My tuner suggested the 3.55's when I had nitrous, and for the Xcharger, because of the low end torque. They are a good compromise on the street too, a little more than the stock 3.31, but not quite as much as the 3.73.

Gears and 8.8 are good for a supercharger and for now, too. you won't notice much mileage difference, except for the tendency to give it more gas more often for the fun factor.
But the rear end is probably the only major thing you need to upgrade for a supercharger. Having dual exhaust is good (for breathability). I did all the supporting mods I thought I'd need ahead of time, too, then put the supercharger on. Those mods included, in addition to the rear end: alum. driveshaft, long-tube headers and high-flow cats, and gauges, including a wideband and boost gauge. A fuel pump wiring upgrade will also be useful for handling more fuel needs, and does not affect normal driving.
Heck, all the above are still on my car, even though the supercharger was recently removed. So I'm running all the mods, but with no blower.
