Help!!! Car won't start after tune!!!

My unlocked tuner came today. I hooked it up and even though I don't have a custom tune I thought I would install a canned tune.
First I got a message that my vehicle wasn't supported.
I walked through the custom tunes without changing anything.
I thought I found a menu to reset my vehicle to stock and I thought with my poor gas mileage that it may help.

Now the starter won't even engage!

I have a feeling I reset it back to whatever stock vehicle the tuner was originally bought for.

I unhooked battery for 10 minutes and still nothing.

Help!!

It sounds like you managed to overwrite your stock tune with whatever was still present in the tuner. Most likely it will require a trip to the dealer to correct this.

For reference, the Return to Stock menu is used to go back to stock AFTER you've installed a custom tune (the tuner uploads your factory tune into internal memory as part of the process of loading the custom tune)

Would it be possible to upload a canned tune for my vehicle to the tuner and then use the tuner to reset it to that tune?

When it said it was not supported, it said I have a FMAG0M6.

You might get away with that, the problem would be you'd have no functional stock tune should you ever wish to go back to stock or sell the car

I'm going from bad to worse. I tried to update the SCT, I think I used the wrong firmware version file. Now the main screen won't come up and when I tried to load the correct firmware file, the device says "incorrect firmware version, contact support@sctflash.com".

Grrrrrrrrr!!!!

In the meantime, I unhooked battery for a whole hour and still no start.

Small print will get you every time. I had to download the firmware for the SF3, not the X3. No more invalid firmware message!
I downloaded a tune revision file and it is now loading to the device. This just may work.
Fingers crossed.

Good luck

Nope. Screwed myself by downloading the stock tune for the wrong car. The tuner is working but it can't pick up the strategy from the mustang. If there was a way to manually tell it that my strategy is FMAG0M6, it might work. I am leaving the battery unhooked overnight and see what kind of reset I get from that.

Unhooking the battery won't do it. You have an improper tune. I can't imagine that your stock tune isn't somewhere in the handheld unless all your activities have deleted or corrupted it.

Keep us posted.

I think by choosing return to stock that the handheld didn't back up my factory settings...it just loaded what it had programmed as stock(for a Ford Five hundred).

There has to be a way to reset the pcm to factory defaults(hopefully without a tow to the dealership).

Another crazy side note...with the key in the 'on' position the odometer advances rapidly with the car not even started. I'm afraid if I mess with it too long, I'll pass 36k and be out of warranty.
