Default 05 V6 Manual Shifter Problems

Ok, got about 82k miles on my Mustang and I'm starting to have shifter problems. I'm a pretty big gearhead, but manual trannys are outside my experience. I'm having intermittent problems shifting into 1, 2, 5 & R. Is this some sort of linkage problem (is there even any linkage to have a problem with?) Even better is that I just realized that my 5 year/100k warranty expired today (doh). Just want to get an idea before I start taking stuff apart, or if I even want to mess with it. Thanks!

What kind of problem? Grinding or it won't go into gear?

Check the shifter linkage under the vehicle for worn shifter bushings.
Replace them with Poly pieces ForTheWin.
Its most likely outside the tranny problems before its inside the tranny
problem seeing how the problem is globally with the gears instead of just
one bing tough to get into...

No grinding, just won't let me into gear. Letting out the clutch and trying again usually doesn't help, just have to go back and move the stick around alot unless whatever it is frees up.

BTW - I don't do any crazy shifting or double clutch or anything and that 82k is probably 80k highway miles.

I kind of suspect that too, because it's all the outside (left or right) gears and not the middle (3 & 4).

Do you know someplace that carries those bushings?

I would suggest getting a Hurst short throw. Comes with all poly. Plus it really looks good.

I have the Hurst shifter. IMO it has a much better feel to the shifts over stock, but mine rattles at certain RPMs.
Not everyone has this problem, but it is a common complaint.
Just something to keep in mind.

MGW shifter is a little more costly than the hurst but eliminates shifting issues and does not rattle. Worth the $$ in my opinion.

Default Going to the dealer.

I guess I'm going to take it to the dealer. There seems to be little rhyme or reason to it. It's less of a problem when it's cold, gets much worse after driving it awhile, seems to happen in every gear now (but only while at a standstill, although it isn't as smooth going between the other gears either as when it's cold), pushing in or letting out the clutch has no effect, no grinding. Starting to suspect the synchro's (although I know very little about it). I'm going to check the fluid this weekend, but if it's not low it's going in next week.
