explorer express xcharger opinions
ok, here's the deal, my friend just bought his '06 v6 mustang a few week back, he's pretty much like every other guy who wants a fast car, fast, easy and cheap... he was lookin around on you tube an found this explorer express xcharger, i know how boost and everything works, they claim it can boost up to 8 or 9 PSI, is my friend going to need any type of top end or bottom end work?? what is stock compression on a 4.0? and will the motor be able to hold the boost without lowering the compression?? the kit is about 5 Gs an comes with pulleys, mounting bracket, injectors, intake manifold, and intake routing. take a look at the video

Hands down excellent product and company. I am running the 2.8" pulley wich is more along the lines of 10-12psi. You don't need to change any compression, or do any top or bottom end work. Yes the kit is a little more expensive than some others, but it is also easy, pretty safe for F/I, and a WHOLE lot of fun.
They just released the intercooler for the kit which will give you even better results, but that tops it over 6 to 6.5k. Worth it in my opinion.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask, as there are several of us "X-men" here who can help out.
Congrats and good luck!

I'm running the intercooled kit with a 2.6" pulley and around 12lbs of boost. No problems on my car at all, and I have 151,000 miles on this engine with no work done on the heads or bottom end.
The installation is pretty easy to do, if you go to the intercooled version you have to remove the front bumper to mount the heat exchanger so it takes a little more time to do that full install.

yes, these are actually the most common and most loved blowers for the 4.0 mustang. every now and then they even have & sponsor group buys for us. they are a great product and would reccomend it...

just remember if it is all out ***** down power you should look at the powerhouse turbo setup. not to say this kit isn't insanely fast and the torque is amazing. but we seem to always get into pissing numbers and such regarding dyno numbers and top power on the kit.
i was the mule for the system . i live in so cal i recently upgraded to the intercooler. i am running the 2.8 pulley and have three custom tunes for it. track - numbers in sig. family - pulled a bunch of timing and lowered the rev limiter and Valet - 3000 rev limiter and no timing, basically just drivable.
The family tune it what i use on the street it is still very fun and in the city with my wife driving it it is safe and fun all in one.
oh yea we are also considered a clique so get used to that also! LOL
