Default Popping with duals?

I don't know much about exhausts but I have been looking to get a dual exhaust setup on my mustang. I have listened to practically every vid on the internet and I notice that in alot of vids, there is abunch of popping. Can anyone explain what causes this and how to avoid it when I go to get my exhaust done?

This happens when the mufflers are cold, and since the mufflers sound their best on cold start up, most people will take a video of their mufflers when the car is still cold. The popping noise goes away once they are warmed up.

Another thing is Drone, which some mufflers have and some dont. Drone is an annoying noise in the interior of the car because of the muffler selection. I went with the true dual kit from NTO and love the sound and looks, best of all no Drone!

It happens when the O2 sensors are cold and
the PCM is in open loop fuel managment mode.
Once the O2s are hot and sending valid readings to the PCM, it
goes into closed loop mode and the system leans out the mixture
from the rich cold start fuel tables.
Plus what he says above....

I personally like the popping mine does when started.

Alright, thanks for the responses. Does anyone know about how long it takes for the sensors to warm up in say, 50 degree weather?

It's probably just a few minutes, maybe once the engine is at running temperature, I just finished my dual exhaust conversion today and it sounds pretty good and not much of a popping noise.

My car stops popping after a couple shifts.
And I gotta agree with redfire6, there's something amusing about that initial popping. I think it's sort of reminds me of old hot rod sounds.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I will just have to deal with it when I get duals.

My MSD shows reading producing temps after just one minute of fast idle.
The open loop indicator then shows closed loop mode.
Cant beat the MSD for helpful diagnostic OBDII readings.
If the PCM can read it, I can read it...
