4.0/auto 8.8 W/3.73 T-lok conversion.
With plans for powwer adders (such as head/FI) Im sure my 7.5in rear axle will need to be swapped. I have read here in multiple places that for the AUTO trans the 3.73s are the best choice. Me questions are in mildy modified form what is the MPG loss? and will there be any noticeable change in ETs with the 3.73 T-loc swap? Also, what all is involver in the swap? will my brakes change over?

MPG-wise I have heard you pick up a few around town, but will lose some on the highway. Supposedly not much either way.
ET-wise, yes, there will be a noticeable change. Also, someone was saying that your car would dyno less.
If you get the takeoff 8.8 rear axle with the 3.73s and cobra flange thing from NTO like most of us do it is just a simple swap. You can do it yourself or have someone else do it for cheap. I don't know about the brakes but I assume they would.

I got mine on new take off, and its a good piece, the gears are frpp from what i have been told and mine have a slight whine on decel. but best mod i have done to my car was that rear. and with all this snow the limited slip is a big help.
uppon acceleration the car is much quicker then the stock gears, however at 70mph i am taching around 2400-2500 rpms at 80 i am near 2900rpms, idk if its due to the cold weather and gas mixture change but i was getting 21 mpg before the swap and now i am getting around 17.5, mind you i do a lot of highway. so you can see where you would loose gas mileage if you drive fast. however my friend has an auto with 4.10s and he tach around the same as me, im wondering it the auto trans has less of a gear ratio compared to the manual.
I would do the 8.8 3.73 from new take off, its a good amount of money but worth it imo.

i have the 8.8 3.73 tloc combo in my car.
BEFORE- if i babied my stock car with 87 octane tune i could get 28 mpg out of it.
AFTER: I can no longer baby it, and have a aggressive 93 tune and average 19-20 mpg on 60% highway 40% city driving.
but, it is a different car. and yes, i would do it again.

I get 27mpg hiway @ 65mpg. 25-26 average per tank 30% in town 70% hiway.
I am actually taking my tax return and looking for some little gas sipping vehicle to beat back and forth to work. I cant afford to midufy the stang and afford gas, so Im looking for a beater and making the stang a toy.

That's what I've been saying. I'm lucky if I crack 20 mpg and that's before the 3.73s. How some of you, especially the GT guys get 25+mpg is beyond me
