Question header gaskets

hello all got a question for those you have installed shorty headers on their 4.0's have you guys use the supplied gaskets or have you used OEM ford gaskets Im getting ready to install my Pypes shorty headers but Im wondering which gaskets would be better to use.

I didn't have the equipment to install the headers, so I took it to the shop that did my cat back. They told me that the supplied gaskets weren't needed and they could use the gaskets originally on the car. It's been about a week now and I've yet to have an exhaust leak or rattle (knocks on wood). [I also have the Pypes shorty headers]

The supplied ones are junk. Go to autozone and get a set of crush gaskets. The stock ones could be reused but I would just get a new set.

Yessir, that's my opinion. If it's good enough for Ford OEM, it's good enough for me.

Yes, the bolt kit with the headers is as generic and craptastic generally as the gasket. If your bolts are in good shape reuse them, if not, check your block for stripped threads :X

Use all the stock hardware but don't reuse the gaskets. Get new stock gaskets. They are superior to all the aftermarket crap gaskets. For added security you could use NordLock washers but realistically they are probably not need when using the stock gaskets.

+1 to this. It is exactly what I did when installing my JBA's 3+ years ago. No leaks, no problems.

New factory gaskets and keep the stock studs and nuts
