Default 06 4.0 exhaust

Okay well I've been thinking of dual exhaust, but the problem is i haven't found a setup i like with the sound. Call me crazy but i like the stock exhaust sound, would i be crazy to do a dual setup with 2 stock mufflers? and would that even make a difference in power or no? I've played around with a 2005 ford mustang 4.0 as well and had duals on it but i didnt like the sound and there was alot of drone in the car but power increase was nice. so any comments and concerns on this or if i'm stupid to even think of this. Thanks

Get an X pipe with Gt mufflers, I got a setup from NewTakeOff, unfortunately they don't produce the whole package anymore so you have to buy the parts seperate.

the GT Mufflers are here

http://www.newtakeoff.com/mustang_gt...less_pair.aspx

the x pipe

http://www.americanmuscle.com/pypes-0509-v6-xpipe.html

then you need some midpipes

http://compare.ebay.com/like/2605618...=263602_309572

(Those are the right ones but I believe you can find them cheaper)

And overall i have the same kit on my 2010 mustang except i have GT Mufflers for a 2010 instead of 05-09. There is no drone with this, sounds great, not too loud, but not too silent. I have a couple videos on my signature of the exhaust. check it out

I bought the X pipe, mid mufflers, and gt mufflers so yes i bought all the parts. But i did not have it installed by a shop i installed it with my dad. You'd have to ask a shop how much they want for installation but i say just do it yourself.

If installing it yourself all you need is a jack, 4 jack stands, a recipricating saw (to cut part of the stock pipe), the correct socket heads, and you need to know what you're doing.

If you bought a set of mufflers and found and H or X pipe, a shop like Meineke would probably even cover on the midpipes for around $200. Sometimes you can find mufflers and H pipes for free (GT member looking to get an off road setup).

I have the Shelby GTA mufflers and the car sounds pretty mean.

good info man!

Also, to sainwtf, once you get this setup you''ll be able to put any 05-09 GT mufflers on too since you have the dual exhaust setup.

I like your idea of keeping it stock. Personally I have not heard a aftermarket setup that sounds good. Hell some aftermarket 8 setups sound like poo-poo

Actually, you can go to V6Mustangstuff and get everything you need for $100.00 cheaper than what you've just listed. The three items above totals $399.59. The one in the link below is $299.99 and it is Pypes brand with two GT Mufflers. It's the same place where I got my set up.

I would go check at a shop and get a few quotes.
One shop was only going to charge me $310 for an H pipe, mid pipes, and Flowmaster exhaust. The was also going to make the cut out in my bumper.
