Can the stock engine handle boost without being built?
sooo i hear about all these turbo kits and supercharger kits for the 4.0 v6 and I have one that Ive done some work to and its fast but i was thinking of boosting it. Now i know that the safest thing to do when boosting the engine is build it to handle the power so it doesnt wear on the engine. At the same time i know plenty of people who are pushing up to 14 psi on their totally stock engine. I know that the 4.0 can handle some serious psi without being built, like the vortech lil'6 but how long can the engine last, even on just 10 psi without premature wear? or should i go through balancing the crank, replacing the heads, connecting rods , walls, ect? any suggestions? also know that BBR is coming out with a build kit for the 4.0 that has everything but the rods and balanced crank

and you guys are talking totally stock engine right? no valve train, no heads or rods, totally stock motors? also is it more worth it to just build a 7.5 rear or swap up to an 8.8? it sucks we cant find 3.55s or 3.67 for our rear and 3.31s are long as hell
BTW- nice pony, awesome idea swapping a six speed in your v6 haha I was thinking of doing that one day down the line.

also, i only have about 41,185 miles on my motor, its a 2006 but ive been driving my moms old beater to college to save miles on it and money for my supercharger haha but it will eventually be the only car im driving so I need it to be reliable too. i want the motor to lat long I dont plan on ever selling it especially if I put all this work into it

Check craigslist and here for a take off 3.55
What is your goal with this car? If you want acceleration go with 3.73 or 4.10. if you're just cruising and want a decent mix of mileage and acceleration, look at 3.55 - 3.73.

I wanna make it more of a sleeper, I want it to be able to handle the extra power of a supercharger too, But if gears are too tight then it kills your top speed. I was thinking either 3.55s or 3.73s
