Dangerous Exhaust?
Hey guys, I just got a new 2008 Mustang V6 with a Pony Package a few weeks ago. I just got a Ford Racing Cold Air Intake and a true Dual exhaust with X pipe also from Ford Racing. In the Cold Air Intake box, there is a sheet with registration to receive the Calibration Tool (Programmer) and a warning about potential damage if car is run under old profile. I can't imagine the dual exhaust will hurt the car in the few days before I receive the tuning tool, but I am curious if the Cold Air Intake will make it too lean to the point I hurt it. (My dad lives 2 hours away at about 2300 feet elevation, where I will be installing it later today, and I live at about 300 feet elevation.) The "calibration tool" should arrive in about 1-2 business days. Any thoughts on potential harm?

I would imagine the car would run too lean, and I think that it would go into "limp" mode. I don't know the exact damage it would do, but you will definitely get the wrench icon or something until you put in the tune... that's how it was for me when I tested my CAI just before adding the tune.
I really have no idea about the x pipe, but from what I gather if it eliminates the cats then it will throw a code. Doubt the exhaust will HURT the car, but you will have to deal with that annoying light all the time!

The FRPP dual exhaust with X pipe will not change much at all and will not affect the way the car runs. As far as the CAI just leave your stock intake on until you get the tuner then install it. It only take a few minutes so no big deal.

The X pipe does not eliminate the cats. It replaces the stock Y pipe and connects the left and right intermediated exhaust pipe together.

Some reason I thought I had read that the off road x(?) eliminates the cats...

You are correct an off road X, eliminates the cats! Off-Road=no Cats. However a dual exhaust that utilizes an X or H pipe just replaces the stock Y pipe on the V6 to allow for dual exhaust. Totally different
