Post chatter noise from clutch

Okay, so Im a complete novice on car lingo but the best way i can describe it is this: when i turn my 2006 on and keep it in neutral (or if feathering the clutch up the driveway), if i depress the clutch about halfway i start to get a weird chattering noise. There's no shaking in the clutch pedal or anywhere else and the sound isn't some ridiculously loud obnoxious noise. Its semi-quiet and has just started over the past month. Im completely OCD about my car though and this sound is really pissing me off. Its only when i feather the clutch that it kicks in. Any ideas what it is? Ive had a TOB go out on my old 2003 and it sounded like a train wreck when i turned the car on. Am i in the early stages of TOB wear on this car?

also just because im new to the forums i had to throw in this cute little guy: lol

Well I can tell you off the bat its not a throwout bearing because 2005+ uses a hydraulic clutch system that used a master slave cylinder, not a throwout bearing.

The TOB and slave cyl are combined into one unit.

I occasionally have the same thing in my 2008-while idling out of gear. No problems with shifting or clutch on the run. Transmission is smooth & trouble-free. To me it's the "nature of the beast" and I just ignore it. (see my earlier forum entry on "clutch chatter")

I also experience the clutch chattering, mainly when I am sitting still at a stop light or stop sign in neutral. It sounds like the noise is directly below my gear shift. I've been experiencing this issue off and on for a couple of years now. I've learned to ignore it.

Pretty much all of the s197 4.0's do this. the duall mass flywheel in the 2007+ is supposed to help this a little bit, but really...like others have said, nature of that particular beast.

Mine does this too, and just ignore it.
