Cleaning BBK Intake
I purchased a used BBK intake with 15k miles on it, i looked up the BBK cleaning kit and cheapest i could find was 19.95$. Could i use the K&N cleaning kit? would it do the same job? Also is it really necessary to clean it @ 15k milesand when can i tell that i need to flush the filter out and clean it?

That kit looks fine. Most any household dish detergent that cuts grease can be used with hot water if you don't have a kit. Reoiling the filter is sort of a "shootin' from the hip" deal since you're spraying/squirting the filter and can't really measure how much you're applying. I washed mine at about 20,000 miles and was sure that I over applied the oil but I haven't fouled the MAF in over 12,000 miles since so I now have a feel for reoiling. But even if you DO overspray and contaminate the MAF, just rewash, reoil and spray the MAF down. Don't get too worried about it.
Depending on where you live (and what kind of trash you're filter is sucking on), IMO about 25,000 miles is about the limit for filter cleaning. Some go less, some go more. And just be sure to give the filter a good 12-24 hours to thorougly dry before re-oiling.
